New Linatex G4 Pump installation delivers up to 43% power draw savings over conventional alternatives.

The results are in! Sand and gravel operations are achieving unprecedented savings in total life cycle costs with new the Linatex G4 Rubber and Hard Metal Pumps, which combine best-in-class efficiency with superior abrasion resistance.
Linatex formally announces the launch of the new G4 Pump range with their official launch in Europe this month,
‘With a long history of innovation supporting the development of the G4 Pump range, and demonstrable results in the field, we are delighted with the new range’ says Bruce Cooke, General Manager Linatex Europe. ‘Our experience across the globe, coupled with the considerable knowledge that our team of experts here in Europe have accumulated throughout their time in the industry has resulted in a world class range of pumps, specifically suited to the market here.’
Compared to conventional products, the Linatex G4 Rubber Pumps incorporate genuine Linatex Premium Rubber Liners for maximum service life in abrasive slurry and chemical applications. Delivering the biggest benefits of value engineering, the Linatex G4 Pump range features hydraulic designs which reduce internal turbulence and minimise power draw, while offering ease of maintenance and serviceability.
Our in-field results demonstrate the benefits delivered by the range. Here are some examples:
Challenge Number 1: A major sand and gravel operation challenged Linatex to cut overall operating costs within its coarse and fine sand slurry applications.
The Solution: After consulting with Linatex Engineers, the operation replaced a conventional 8-inch, 75 HP pump with a new 8-inch, 60 HP Linatex G4 Rubber Pump in its coarse sand application. In the fine sand application, a standard 6-inch, 30 HP pump was replaced with a new 6-inch, 25 HP Linatex G4 Rubber Pump.
The Result: Based upon 22,400 annual operating hours the new 8-inch pump delivered a 17.5 % reduction in power draw over the conventional pump; while the 6-inch pump delivered a stunning 43.75 % reduction in power draw over the standard model.
Challenge Number 2: A large European waste recycling organisation required a replacement feed pump which could offer improved efficiency and performance.
The challenge to Linatex was to supply a pump which would feed at a minimum of 7 bar end pressure, ensure longer wear life at a reduced cost, backed up by reliable local support.
The Solution: Linatex supplied a Linatex G4 Hard Metal Pump HSN100 (with packed gland and expeller seal) which delivers the fine, flocculated, thixotropic, abrasive slurry feed material from a sludge holding tank to the press.
The Results: Still in service, the Linatex G4 Hard Metal Pump has delivered over 12 months part life as opposed to the previous incumbent’s pump which only delivered a 6 month part life. In addition, the Linatex G4 Pump has delivered a saving of almost 70% on part costs.
The increased pressure that the G4 Pump has delivered, has not only led to a drier filter cake being produced, but has also allowed more water to be recycled for use within the system.

Linatex technology in the development of mobility aid for wheel chair users

Linatex engineers have used technology, normally bound for the mining industry, to produce a unique solution to a product in a completely different field – mobility aids! In particular the area of special needs concerning wheelchair operation. Already in wide circulation, the innovative product creates greater gripping (friction) to allow less slippage and therefore greater efficiency in ‘pushing’ the wheel chair.
This solution, a rubber glove, helps provide friction between the wheels of the chair and the palm of the hand.
The glove was created by a specialist provider of intensive rehabilitation programs who provides a comprehensive range of medical, nursing, therapy and support services to people with a wide range of disabilities.
But in its original design, the stitching, used to hold the rubber onto the glove meant that repairs and replacements were common.
Linatex proposed a solution using a special adhesive, usually reserved for abrasive environments in industrial applications.
The adhesive, not only lengthened the life of the glove, but also increased the surface area, allowing it to provide even more friction, and thus greater control and maneuverability for the user."
The development of the glove provided a real advancement in the use of mobility aids for wheel chair users’. ‘Enabling the development of a product in this field is very satisfying’, says Henk Van Kruining, General Manager for Linatex Australia. ‘In addition to aiding in the creation of friction to help the users maneuver the wheel chair, it provides additional padding for the palms’. The unique properties of Linatex Premium Rubber have been well known for over 80 years in many specialisd applications for providing signification wear resistance in wet abrasion applications, and it is these unique characteristics that make it ideal for use in the glove.
The glove straps around the users palm so that when their hands are used to move the wheelchair, additional friction is created. This means less exertion on the part of the wheelchair users, resulting in less stress and pressure on the rest of their body.

Linatex Announces Expansion and a newly designed multilingual website to meet global challenge

With the unprecedented growth in emerging markets becoming a major focus for all in the mining sector, Linatex has risen to the challenge by announcing global expansion projects and a new look website, available in English, Russian, Chinese and Spanish.
“As a truly global company Linatex understands the importance of communication. With recovery in our traditional markets and our growing role in emerging markets such as Latin America, Asia, Africa and Russia, Linatex is doing all it can to ensure that language is no barrier” said Mr. Henk van Kruining, Linatex Global Marketing Director. “There was an obvious need for this function with Linatex seeing a significant rise in website visits since 2008” continued Henk.
The growth and development of the Linatex website is in line with the significant expansion the Company has seen in other areas of its business. The physical presence of Linatex has also grown with new facilities in South Australia and Rustenberg (South Africa), the growth of staff numbers in many parts of China including Shanghai, Beijing, Xian and Anshan and more than doubling of staff numbers in the past 12 months to support the development of their Russian business.
“We have stayed focused on putting our business in a position of strength, so we were ready to take advantage of the economic recovery” Stated Mr. van Kruining.
Linatex has also seen growth and expansion in America. With the explosive growth seen in the oil sands industry, Linatex released a new ‘oil resistant’ rubber, Linagard OSR in 2008. The success of this rubber and it’s suitability for the oil sands industry is un-matched by anything else. As a result, the Company has seen expansion of both their Gallatin facility and its Polymers Division, St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin to accommodate the growth in this industry. In addition, improvements in the construction and aggregates sectors have seen demand for screen media increase. The innovative approach, focusing on tailored development of screen media provided by the Linatex Screen Media business has resulted in the need to also increase capacity at the St Croix Falls and required a move to larger premises.
Greg Caddle, President, Linatex Corporation of America states that, “In light of substantial growth in our slurry hose manufacturing line, major expansion projects are currently underway at both the Gallatin, TN, and St. Croix Falls, WI, manufacturing facilities,.”
To accommodate the additional space requirements needed at Gallatin, Linatex incorporated the Gallatin moulded products line with the already existing moulded products line at the St. Croix Falls facility. The Wisconsin plant is also undergoing expansion in the way of relocating to a new plant that allows for 15,000 sq. ft. of increased manufacturing space. Consolidating both moulded products lines allows for increase efficiencies and the ability to combine and increase resources in the way of equipment and staff.
